Ah Kung

Buddha sat across from Huey in the teahouse in Northern Chinatown. It was 1 PM in the afternoon. The joint usually opened around 4 PM. “You go to East Ord. This Eng Suey turf. But soon they kick up to Bang Ong Tong.” said Huey. He was a 14K ex-pat that worked for the Bang Ong to push their interests. “White Tigers are 14K Boys now.”

It was Buddha’s honor. His brother Soy Face beat up a wetback a few weeks ago. And since the hit they executed on the Eng Suey, the 14K had been backing them up with a load of equipment. Those boys from Huerta Videl knew better now. And a weekly cut from the gambling joints in East Ord was coming their way now too.

Soy Face and Buddha walked into the Pang-Ming Variety Store. “You pay now!” Buddha yelled with an aggressive tone to the clerk. “I already pay!” Soy Face begins to kick around items and throw about shelves. Items skate across the floor. It’s a mess. “You pay to Yale Street! You pay UP to Benny Quay now.”

The two left the shop upon which havoc had been wrought. The message had been sent. East Ord will know better now.
